| How to fix drifting mouse problem on the Dell Latitude C610 |
- downloaded Synaptics Pointing Device drivers (zip file) for Windows 2000/XP v8.1.2 from http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm.
- Install the drivers (i.e. run setup.exe in the zip file)
- Restart your laptop and make sure NO external mouse is plugged into the laptop (Note: if an external mouse is plugged in you may not see the touch stick in the device list)
- Start Point Device Properties of the installed application and select Hardware->touch stick and then click the disable button to disable the touch stick, which is the root cause of the problem.
- After these steps, you can plug in your external mouse if want to. Both touch pad and mouse should work. The cursor drifting should stop.
