The Othmer Method Certification for Neurofeedback Professionals

Certification Requirements Summary

Prerequisites

  • Bachelors degree or higher in a health care field
  • or
  • 3 years of neurofeedback experience in a professional setting. Submit CV including education and professional experience.

Fees

  • $200 application fee with submission.

Study References and Forms

  • Completion of reading and media study covering references on neurofeedback history, research, EEG and instrumentation, neuroscience, treatment planning, and professional conduct. View list of study references ››

Course Attendance

  • Attendance at EEG Info Introductory Course or Clinical Summit within past 2 years.
    Submit certificate of completion.
  • Completion of all three Practicum Weekends for initial certification: Alpha-Theta, Bipolar/Infra-low Frequency Neurofeedback and Neurofeedback Evaluation.

Mentoring

  • 10 hours of individual or group mentoring with Othmer Method certified provider. Submit mentoring form.
  • Ongoing participation in EEG Info List Server discussions.

Recertification Every Two Years

  • Requires EEG Info Introductory course or Clinical Summit, new case presentation, and continuing participation on EEG Info list server discussion group.

Personal Neurofeedback Training

  • 20 sessions of awake-state training and 10 sessions of deep-state training. Submit all session notes.

Clinical Experience

  • At least one year of clinical experience with neurofeedback.  Completion of 400 neurofeedback sessions, with no less than 20 clients.

Written Case Presentation

  • One client through at least 20 sessions, within last 12 months, demonstrating mastery of the Othmer Method. Submit all assessment and reassessment information, session notes and written summary of decision-making process and lessons learned.
